who is "me"?

in the past it hasn't taken me very long, or very much, to begin identifying closely with my ambitions, as though they somehow held the key to unlocking my true purpose or expression of "self." it's conditioning of which i'm working to become continually aware, and eventually free.

what i mean when i say "identifying closely with my ambitions," is that I somehow manage to intertwine my vision of my ideal future with my sense of self. As though whoever it is that I am needs some additional refinement in the form of human worldly accomplishments. it seems so silly now that i read it back to myself. but i almost can't help it.

i'm working on connecting with the permanent "me" that sits patiently behind the fleeting thoughts, feelings, and temporary ambitions that pass through me. that, i think, is the "self" that's connected to something deeper than today's circumstances and a portal to enduring peace. that's the "self" i'm here for.

term of the day: "kindness." you know it when you see it. it's all good.

song of the day: Together by Peter CottonTale ft. Chance the Rapper, Cyhtnia Erivo, Chicago Children's Choir and Matt Jones (Re-Collective Orchestra). this is the mood all week. bringing me all the way up.
