try it. for a moment, concentrate and conjure up all of the beliefs, assumptions and universal truths fundamental to your understanding of who you are. now, toss them into the ABYSS. who are you now? what is true? what is false? who can you trust? how do you know? go explore.
this is a fun little game my wife and i play often. we find value in using it periodically as an exercise to free our minds from the mental traps and behavioral loops that get in between us and higher consciousness and growth. we never regret investing the time. this is a quick hack, that when employed thoughtfully, will enable you to practice first-principles thinking. that means getting to the heart of the matter. it means freeing yourself from unhelpful biases and unvalidated assumptions, and seeing the world more clearly. that clarity of thought is alpha.
what's even more valuable than this exercise and the clarity it brings, is what comes next. experimental frameworks. first you abandon your identity, second, you re-approach the world and explore, third, you develop new beliefs and assumptions (unmoored from your old identity), finally, you test these new assumptions and beliefs EFFICIENTLY and RIGOROUSLY. understanding and applying this process faithfully has helped me free my mind, and has given me the courage to try and explore new things and opportunities at every stage.
all that is sacred to me in this life is my GOD, my FAMILY, the well-being of my fellow HUMAN-BEINGS, and my FREEDOM. the rest is to be broken, built, re-broken, and built again. we are not the ideas we inherited. we exist on a different plane. don't be defined by mental models and interpretations of the world handed down to you by somebody else. go take a closer look for yourself. there's freedom and abundance in thinking differently. lose your identity, it's peaceful and profitable.
